Blogging for Students

July 16-18 Blogging for Students

Blogging is a powerful tool that gives students a voice and removes the barriers of the classroom walls.  Students can use blogs for their  journals, portfolios, reflections, or many other types of assignments.  Discuss how you may use blogs with students and set up a blog to review the settings and layout.

Online Video Editing

July 16-18 Online Video Editing Tools

YouTube:  the video editor lets you make quick edits to your uploaded YouTube videos.  You can create a video using the creative commons videos and music available in your editor and/or upload pictures.  Add transitions, text, and effects and publish to the world or only to those you specify.

WeVideo is a full-featured video editor providing full creative control of your edits. Add layers to your timeline, organize your video projects and share to all. You can combine multiple clips, incorporate Creative Commons footage, enhance your clip with effects and even upload videos onto YouTube and edit them!

Screencasting: Create tutorials or mini-lessons by recording your screen and narrating.  Your video can be downloaded as an mp4 file or uploaded to google drive or directly to YouTube.  Completed videos can be edited in WeVideo or YouTube and linked to your website.

Google Merge

 July 9 and July 11

Thought you couldn’t mail merge or send automatic emails? Think again - Google scripts will simplify your life! Doctopus, Autocrat and formMule make using Google forms or spreadsheets much more efficient.

The formMule script is a Google Apps script that is useful for automating emails and calendar events created dynamically from Google Forms.

The Doctopus script gives teachers the ability to auto-generate, pre-share, and manage grading and feedback on templated Docs for group and individual projects.

The autoCrat Script is a multi-purpose document merge tool that allows you to take any personalized, row-based spreadsheet data and create, save, attach to email, and share templated documents. This can occur automatically when a form is submitted!
